How to change clip speed: slow motion, fast motion and freeze frames

From the timeline

1. Right-click a clip.
2. Under Speed, choose 25%, 50%, Normal, 200% or 400%, or click Reverse.
3. The clip shows its speed, and the edit gets longer or shorter to match.

With chat

For anything more specific, ask:

• "Play the pool shot at the start in slow motion, half speed."
• "Speed up the walk to the car 3x."
• "Ramp into slow motion when he jumps, then back to normal."
• "Freeze on the last frame of the reveal for 2 seconds."

Tips

• Use the 1x menu under the preview to watch the whole edit at 0.5x to 2x. That only changes playback, not the video.
• Speed changes carry over to Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro exports.
