How to make a vertical, square or widescreen video
Switch between 16:9, 9:16, 1:1 and 4:5, and reframe your shots.
Steps
- Open the Aspect Ratio tab.
- Choose a shape:
- 16:9 for YouTube and widescreen
- 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts
- 1:1 for square posts
- 4:5 for portrait feed posts
- Auto follows the shape of your footage
- Under Crop, choose Fit to show the whole shot or Fill to fill the frame.
- Use Scale, X and Y to reframe the selected clip.
With chat
- "Make this vertical and keep the speaker centered."
- "Make a square version for Instagram."
Tips
- Turning widescreen footage vertical crops the sides. Check each shot, and ask chat to reframe the ones where something important is cut off.
- Export presets on the Export tab set the shape too.
