How to revise an edit with chat
Ask for changes in plain language and Novacut edits the timeline for you.
Getting started · 5/8After the first cut, keep editing by typing what you want changed. Novacut edits the same timeline you see, so you can mix chat requests with editing by hand.
Steps
- Type a change in the box under the chat, for example "Hold the bedroom shot a little longer and drop the staircase."
- Press Enter. Editing pauses while Novacut works and unlocks when the reply finishes.
- Read the reply. It says exactly what changed.
- Review the preview. If you don't like it, click Undo: the whole chat change is undone in one step.
Things you can ask for
- Structure: "Make the intro shorter", "Move the customer quote to the end", "Cut the tangent about pricing."
- Footage: "Use the close-up when she's answering", "Put more b-roll over the explanation."
- Look and sound: "Add a warm filter", "Lower the music under speech", "Reduce the background noise."
- Graphics: "Add a title for the first 3 seconds", "Put my logo in the corner."
- Questions: "What's in the clip from the second camera?", "Which shots show the product?"
Tips
- Be specific: "Remove the first 10 seconds" works better than "make it better".
- For big changes, Novacut may describe its plan and ask before acting. Reply "Yes" to go ahead.
- New Chat starts a fresh conversation. Your timeline stays as it is.
