Troubleshooting uploads, processing and playback
Fix uploads that stall, footage that won't finish processing, and previews that won't play.
Use a supported browser
Novacut plays your edit with WebCodecs. Use a current version of Chrome, Edge or Brave on a computer. Safari and Firefox, and browsers on iPhone or iPad, show an "Unsupported browser" message.
An upload stalls or fails
- Keep the tab open until the upload reaches 100%. After that, processing continues on our servers.
- If an upload stops, click Retry upload on the file. It picks up where it left off.
- A file that won't upload may be in an unsupported format. See supported files.
Footage stays on "Analyzing"
- Analysis takes a few minutes per clip, longer for long files. The progress panel shows what's happening and an estimate.
- Temporary failures are retried automatically. If a file shows an error, click Try Again.
- If a file is still stuck after 30 minutes, contact [email protected] with the project link.
The preview won't play or looks wrong
- Wait for "Buffering…" to finish, especially after a big change.
- Reload the page.
- Make sure you're using Chrome, Edge or Brave.
- Some changes, such as upscaling, only appear in the rendered MP4, not in the preview.
Chat says the reply was interrupted
Click Dismiss and send the request again. Your timeline keeps any changes that were already made.
Export is unavailable
- Exports wait until your original files finish backing up.
- Once your trial is used up, exports need a paid plan.
- Only one export runs at a time.
