End-of-season sports video for the team party or banquet

Updated

An end-of-season sports video for a team party or banquet works best at 1–3 minutes: a title card, the season's best plays and celebrations with every player on screen at least once, a team moment near the end, and a thank-you to coaches and parents, all cut to upbeat music. Start collecting clips from parents a week or two before the party, and play the 16:9 version on the big screen and send parents a vertical one to post. Here's the plan.

A simple structure

  1. Title card: team name, season and crest (5 seconds).
  2. The season: best plays and celebrations, every player at least once (most of the video).
  3. The team: huddles, team photo, a stat card like "12 games · 31 goals" (15–20 seconds).
  4. Thank-you card: coaches, parents, sponsors (5 seconds).

For a banquet with awards, make a 20–30 second clip per award winner too.

Collecting clips from parents

  • One shared folder (Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud), not a group chat, which compresses videos.
  • Originals only, horizontal if possible.
  • Ask for celebrations and team moments, not just goals.
  • Get permission to show and share players' faces per your club's media policy.

How we made one

21 phone clips became a youth soccer season highlight, then one message added a crest, slow motion and a stadium anthem. Sped up. Phone-size version.

Make a 45-second highlight video of our U10 soccer team's season for the end-of-season party. Open on a title card "Lions U10 · 2026 season", then the best runs, shots, saves and celebrations, cut to the beat of an upbeat track from the music library. Use each clip once, and end on the team walking off the field with "Thanks for an amazing season, coaches and parents".

Then one more message added the crest, slow motion on the best kick and celebration, a stadium anthem, a stat card and a freeze-frame ending. Full prompts →

FAQ

How long should an end-of-season video be?

1–3 minutes for the main video. Longer and the room loses interest; make separate player clips if needed. Length guide →

What if some players barely appear in the footage?

Ask their parents for clips, use team and bench shots, or add a photo of each player on a roster card near the end.

What music should I use?

Upbeat and licensed for where you'll post it. For an emotional senior-night video, a slower track that builds. Music guide →

Can I make one for each player?

Yes. After the team video, ask for a 30-second clip of each player from the same footage; it's a nice gift for families.
