How to make a real estate video with an iPhone
To make a real estate video, shoot slow, steady clips of each room on your phone (horizontal, 0.5× wide lens, lights on, blinds open), then edit them into a 30–90 second tour: exterior first, rooms in walking order, a fact from the MLS description on each room, music with cuts on the beat, and your agent card at the end. Make an unbranded copy for the MLS and a vertical cut for social. The whole thing can take under an hour. Here's the shot list, settings and editing steps.
Seven walkthrough clips and an MLS description became a beat-synced listing video. Sped up. Phone-size version.
1. Prep the house (10 minutes)
Lights on, blinds and curtains open, toilet seats down, counters cleared, cars out of the driveway, pets and people out of frame.
2. Phone settings
- Horizontal, 4K at 30 fps (or 1080p at 30 if storage is tight).
- 0.5× ultra-wide lens indoors; avoid the very edges where lines bend.
- Lock exposure (tap and hold) so bright windows don't make the room go dark mid-shot.
- Stabilization on. Hold the phone with both hands, elbows in.
3. The 15-minute shot list
| Area | Shots (5–10 s each) |
|---|---|
| Exterior | Wide of the front; slow walk toward the door |
| Entry | Door opening; first look inside |
| Living room | Slow push-in from the doorway; slow pan |
| Kitchen | Push-in; slide along the island; one detail (range, counters) |
| Dining | Push-in toward the kitchen or view |
| Bedrooms and baths | One push-in each; primary suite gets two |
| Outdoor | Walk out the back door; wide of the yard, pool or view |
Move slowly. A push-in should take 5 seconds, not 1. Shoot 2–3 takes of the best rooms. Full walkthrough shot list →
4. Edit
- Upload all clips untrimmed.
- Paste the MLS description so on-screen facts come from it.
- Describe the video: length, music mood, type style, what goes on screen, the agent card.
- Check facts against shots: only show a feature the shot shows.
- Export at 1080p; make an unbranded MLS copy and a vertical Reel.
Our prompt:
Make a 40-second listing video from these clips. Use each clip only once and cut to the beat of an upbeat, elegant track. Open on the exterior with the address, price and "4 bd · 4 ba · 3,180 sq ft". On each room, show one or two facts from the description, but only facts the shot actually shows; leave out anything no clip shows, and name a room only if you can see it. Make the typography look like a luxury brochure: the address and room names in an elegant serif, the facts in small, widely spaced capitals. Design a simple Maple Realty logo (a small maple leaf mark with "MAPLE REALTY" in widely spaced capitals) and keep it small in the bottom-right corner the whole time, and end on an agent card: "Jordan Lee · Maple Realty · (310) 555-0142".
Rules to know
- MLS tours are usually unbranded: no logo, agent name or contact info. MLS video rules →
- Fair Housing: describe the home, not the buyer you imagine.
- Drone shots for a listing need an FAA Part 107 certified pilot (US).
FAQ
Can I make a professional real estate video with an iPhone?
Yes. Recent iPhones shoot sharp, stabilized 4K. Slow movement, good light and a clean edit matter more than the camera.
How long does it take?
About 15 minutes to shoot and, with an AI editor, minutes to edit. Editing by hand typically takes 1–3 hours for a listing video.
Do I need a gimbal?
It helps but isn't required. Walk slowly, hold the phone with both hands and use the phone's stabilization.
Should I add a voiceover?
Optional. On-screen facts work silently on social; a short voiceover adds personality for YouTube and your website.
