How to post an event highlight video the same day
An event highlight video posted the night of the event gets shared by everyone who was there; a week later it's an archive. To post the same day, plan it like a live production: one person filming with a shot list, clips uploaded in batches during breaks, the agenda text ready to paste, a 30–90 second cut started as soon as the last session ends, and a vertical version for social. Here's the hour-by-hour plan and what to prepare in advance.
29 conference clips and an agenda became a recap with speaker names and stats. Sped up. Phone-size version.
Prepare the day before
- Agenda text in a document: event name, date, speakers, titles, headline numbers.
- Logo and sponsor files.
- The prompt, written and ready to paste. Example prompt →
- A filming plan: who films what, with a shot list.
- Upload speed: check the venue Wi-Fi, or plan to upload from a hotspot.
The same-day plan
| When | What |
|---|---|
| Doors open | Film signage, registration, arrivals |
| Morning sessions | Film keynotes; upload arrival and keynote clips at the first break |
| Lunch | Upload the rest of the morning |
| Afternoon | Film sessions, networking, sponsors; upload at breaks |
| Last session | Upload the final clips, paste the agenda, send the prompt |
| Reception | Check the first cut and speaker names; ask for fixes |
| That evening | Export the recap and the vertical cut; post and send to attendees |
In our test, once the footage had been analyzed, the first cut from 29 clips (speaker lower thirds, stat cards, beat-synced cuts) took about two minutes.
Tips
- Name one person to film. Clips from one shooter cut together better than 20 random phones.
- Film reactions. A highlight video without faces is a slideshow of a stage.
- Keep it short. 30–90 seconds for the same-night post; the full recap can follow. Full recap guide →
FAQ
How fast can you edit an event highlight video?
With footage uploaded during the day and the text prepared, a first cut can be ready minutes after the last upload. Rendering a 1-minute video takes a few minutes.
What's the difference between a highlight video and a recap?
A highlight video is short and fast, posted immediately. A recap is the fuller story (1–3 minutes) with speakers, numbers and sponsors.
Where should I post it?
LinkedIn and Instagram the same night, the event website and an email to attendees the next day.
Should a highlight video include speaker quotes?
One strong line can anchor it, if the audio is clean. Otherwise use lower thirds and music. Conference footage tips →
