Novacut exports an FCPXML timeline that links to your original, full-resolution files.

## Before you start

- Put all the videos and images you uploaded **directly in one folder** (no subfolders), with their original file names.
- Copy that folder's path: [macOS](/help/help-video-folder-paths) · [Windows](/help/help-video-folder-paths-windows).

## In Novacut

1. Open the **Export** tab and scroll to **Editor project files**.
2. Click **Final Cut Pro (.fcpxml)**.
3. Paste the folder path and click **Use This Folder**.
4. A ZIP downloads. **Extract it** before importing. It contains the FCPXML, any music or generated audio used in the edit, and an IMPORT.txt with notes.

## In Final Cut Pro

1. Double-click the `.fcpxml`, or choose **File › Import › XML…**.
2. If asked for media, point to the same folder.
3. Open the new project and play it through.

## What carries over

Cuts, clip order, lanes, transitions, speed changes, keyframed position and size, images, music, and captions as native Final Cut captions. Graphics and effects are not included; rebuild them in Final Cut Pro if you need them.

## Watch it in Final Cut Pro

<div style="position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; border-radius: 0.5rem; margin-top: 0.75rem; margin-bottom: 0.75rem;">
  <iframe
    src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/y20518VkxxE"
    title="Novacut to Final Cut Pro export tutorial"
    frameborder="0"
    allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share"
    allowfullscreen
    style="position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;"
  ></iframe>
</div>

## If media won't relink

- Check that the file names match what you uploaded.
- Make sure the drive is connected and the folder hasn't moved since you exported.
