AI video cutter: cut long videos by describing what to keep

Updated

An AI video cutter does more than split a file at timestamps: it reads the transcript and the picture, finds the parts worth keeping based on what you say the video is for, and cuts out everything else, including pauses and repeats. You describe the topic and the length; it returns the cut, and you refine it by asking. If you only need to chop a file into pieces at known times, a basic splitter is enough. If you don't yet know where the good parts are, an AI cutter saves the watching.

Describe the cut

19 minutes of interviews became an 87-second YouTube video. Sped up. Phone-size version.

Turn it into a 90-second YouTube video about training in a cave to get ready for the Moon. Keep only her best answers, cut out the interviewers, the dead air and the repeats, use tight jump cuts, add captions, and open with a bold title card.

From 19 minutes, Novacut kept 11 answers in an 87-second cut. How to write briefs like this →

What makes a good cut description

  • The topic: "about training in a cave".
  • The length: "90 seconds".
  • What to remove: "the interviewers, dead air and repeats".
  • The style: "tight jump cuts", "captions", "a title card".

Refine by asking

  • "Drop the answer about the lava tubes."
  • "Make it 60 seconds."
  • "Make a 45-second vertical version." Shorts →

FAQ

Can an AI video cutter split one video into several clips?

Yes. Ask for each clip separately ("a 30-second clip about the training, another about the Moon"), or ask for the best three moments as separate Shorts.

How accurate are AI cuts?

Good at choosing the right sections; occasionally a cut lands a word early or late. Check the start and end of each section, and nudge them on the timeline or by asking.

Does it work on audio-only recordings?

It works on any recording with speech. For a video, upload the audio with clips or images to show.

What file sizes can I upload?

Long, large recordings are fine; ours was a 2.4 GB file. Upload time depends on your connection.
